The Christmas Tag 2020

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

How has your day been so far? What did you get? What has been your favourite part of the day?
My day has been incredible so far. I got my new laptop! YAY!! Actually writing on a working keyboard is brilliant! I also got a chromecast, some makeup, and a LOT of stationary and bullet journalling things. I also got a fluffy duvet cover…which is both the most amazing invention and also potentially the worst thing to sleep in – I will just have to try and report back on how good it is. My favourite part of Christmas day is always spending it with my family, watching my parents and my brother open their presents is the best thing.
I decided to celebrate Christmas on my blog by doing the tag I have done on my blog before on Christmas day. I found this tag on Howling Libraries, I obviously wasn’t tagged to do this but I am making a tradition of doing this tag so I get a free pass haha. Anyway, I hope you enjoy, let’s jump into this!

1.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS MOVIE?

Last time I said White Christmas, and I do still adore this movie because of tradition, but also I do know that it is quite crap haha. Another incredible Christmas movie that is fighting for my fave spot is The Holiday – I mean, who doesn’t love Jack Black?!

2.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG?

I would say this has stayed the same since last time: White Christmas by Bing Crosby because of the film or Fairytale of New York by the Pogues. But I do want to add that I also love You’re a Mean One Mr Grinch by Lindsey Stirling and Sabrina Carpenter – it is a jazzy jam that I fell in love with last year!

3.DO YOU OPEN PRESENTS ON CHRISTMAS EVE OR CHRISTMAS MORNING?

This is another answer that hasn’t changed – CHRISTMAS MORNING!! Both my parents grew up doing it that way so we continued that.

4.WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SCENT?

Last time I said Vanilla Lime which is technically not Christmas related but it is my favourite scent – nothing can top it. While this is still my favourite scent, my favourite kind of christmas scent is anything cookies/nutmeg/cinnamon/orange foodish kind of scents. So cosy!

5.WHAT TOPS YOUR TREE?

This is another unchanged answer and it will never change – A clown playing a saxophone. NOT KIDDING. My dad compiled it as a child and ever since my brother and I found out it was what topped his tree as a kid we decided we would continue the legacy using the exact one he had as a child.

6.IS YOUR TREE FAKE OR REAL?

Again, this is the same as getting a real tree is a tradition for us. Every year we buy a freshly cut tree that was grown like a mile from our house and it is always slightly odd or imperfect and I love that about it – gives it character.

7.HAVE YOU EVER GONE CHRISTMAS CAROLLING?

I have sung Christmas songs at a school Christmas concert but I still have never been carolling around houses. I live in the middle of the countryside so it isn’t really something that happens around here – even though it can’t happen this year cause of COVID.

8.WHITE OR COLOURED LIGHTS?

White. We have to much colour on our tree as it is. We go big on the tinsel and the décor we have accumulated over the years so it would be a bit much if it had coloured lights also. However, not on my Christmas tree – I do love a warm yellow coloured light rather than the white. I think it’s a bit warmer when the weather is so cold.

9.EGGNOG OR HOT CHOCOLATE?

I have still never had eggnog (and I do not plan to try it since I am not a fan of eggs) and I have hot chocolate basically every day so this is easy.
Hot Chocolate all the way!

10.ARE YOU A ‘BUDDY THE ELF’ OR AN ‘EBENEEZER SCROOGE’?

This has still not changed and it NEVER will – I am a buddy the elf and yet I am not because I do not want to be compared to such a painful character (I hate elf/Will Farrell for reference) But looking past the questions phrasing I am a joyous and overly excited Christmas Nut who plays Christmas songs in November.

11.WHEN DO YOU PUT UP YOUR TREE/DECORATIONS?

We put it up on 28th of November this year, traditionally we do it the first Saturday of December but my Mum was away on that day so we moved date so we could do it together.

12.IF YOU COULD TRAVEL ANYWHERE FOR THE HOLIDAY SEASON, WHERE WOULD IT BE?

This is still the same and will not change until I get to go – New York. I have always wanted to see New York/Times Square at Christmas or New Years.

13.DO YOU MAKE NEW YEARS’ RESOLUTIONS?

I do make new years resolutions. This year I hope to stop biting my nails and improve my French, I also have a lot of blogging and reading goals which I will go into in a post in the new year.

So that’s Christmas gone for yet another year!
I hope that you had a fantastic day with your family or friends and got everything you wished for!

Merry Christmas from me ❤

  1. Merry Christmas, Maisy! 🎄 Also, I love that you have a clown playing a saxophone at the top of your tree! Unique family traditions are always the best 😉 Now I feel kind of uninteresting when I say we just have a regular old straw star at the top of ours 😂
