Hi all,
Happy October!
10th month of the Year already… I have no words? Where has the year gone? I hope your September was good. I got through a lot more books than I planned to – most of them however weren’t on my TBR and I think this trend will continue this month.
I started my Uni course this week and because I study English Lit, a lot of the books I will be reading between now and December aren’t my choice so when I do ever get a spare moment to read a book of my choice I don’t really want to deal with the pressure of a TBR. But despite that I will still pick a few because there are a few I do definitely want to read this month but prepare for a very small TBR.
Also, I’m not going to list the books I’m reading for my course because I can’t remember which ones I have to read this month and which ones I’m reading next month so it’s just easier to not list them and confuse things.
P.s, I hit my yearly goal yesterday of 48 Books read (Aka 4 a month) so I decided to bump it up to 72 (Aka 6 a month) and hopefully I will reach in the last few months of this year. But anyway, I’ll just get on with my TBR.
Currently Reading:

Murder at the Dolphin Hotel by Helena Dixon. I started this at the very end of September so I want to get it done before Uni gets in the way and I forget all about it haha! I’m only 20% of the way through but I am really enjoying it! It’s a great murder mystery so far and it just has the slightest hint of romance yeah! I’ve really been enjoying it.
A room with a view… to murder! June 1933. Independent young Kitty Underhay has been left in charge of her family’s hotel, The Dolphin, on the tranquil English coast. She’s expecting her days at the bustling resort to be filled with comfortable chatter with chambermaids as they polish the mahogany desks and glittering candelabras of the elegant foyer. Everything must be perfect for the arrival of a glamourous jazz singer from Chicago and a masked ball that will be the cultural highlight of the season. But when several rooms are broken into and searched, including Kitty’s own, she quickly realises that something out of the ordinary is afoot at the hotel. Soon rumours are flying in the cozy town that someone is on the hunt for a stolen ruby. A ruby that Kitty’s mother may well have possessed when she herself went missing during the Great War. And when the break-ins are followed by a series of attacks and murders, including of the town’s former mayoress, it seems the perpetrator will stop at nothing to find it.
Aided by ex-army captain Matthew Bryant, the Dolphin’s new security officer, Kitty is determined to decipher this mystery and preserve not only the reputation of her hotel, but also the lives of her guests. Is there a cold-blooded killer under her own roof? And what connects the missing jewel to the mystery from Kitty’s own past?
New Standalone:

Undone by Kathleen Lawless. I got this on Netgalley the other day and although I have a lot of other books on my Netgalley shelf that I’ve had for far longer this one really caught my eye and I have just really been in the mood for romances like this recently rather than a more chick-lit kind of romance if you get me.
AN X-RATED SCAVENGER HUNT! It’s Kennedy’s brilliant solution to cheer up her two best friends and spice up their lives on a badly-needed girls’ getaway.
Lisa is getting over a cheating husband.
Justine recently broke up with her married lover.
Kennedy, your basic love ’em and leave ’em girl, is in her element on a beach pardise surrounded by wealthy, elegible, and smokingly-single men.
The first one to complete her sexcapades list is the winner.
Which of them will take home the ultimate prize? Who will lose her heart?
Reread:

I read and reviewed The Complete Maus by Art Speigelman last year, but I noticed that it’s on one of my uni courses reading lists again so I thought it would be a good idea to pick it up again. I’m currently half-way through it so I should have it finished by the end of next week.
Combined for the first time here are Maus I: A Survivor’s Tale and Maus II – the complete story of Vladek Spiegelman and his wife, living and surviving in Hitler’s Europe. By addressing the horror of the Holocaust through cartoons, the author captures the everyday reality of fear and is able to explore the guilt, relief and extraordinary sensation of survival – and how the children of survivors are in their own way affected by the trials of their parents. A contemporary classic of immeasurable significance.
That’s my TBR for this month, like I said – super short this month. I definitely hope to read more than this but like I said at the top I’m trying to just role with what mood I’m in rather than dictating things with a TBR because I’ve been ignoring it recently anyway haha! Anyway, I hope you have a good day ❤ Now for today’s Questions…
What is on your TBR this month?
Are you keeping up with your reading goal for this year?
What are your opinions on TBR’s – do you use them as a guide or do you follow them exactly?

Congrats on hitting your goal already – best of luck with your extended one! I hit mine but decided not to extend it, I’m just seeing how far I can get with no pressure!

Oh yes, I remember I almost never did any reading for pleasure at uni! I used to just binge in the holidays, haha. You could always split the difference at 60!

I really need to read Maus sometime. I’ve heard such great things but never actually picked it up. So I need to do that. I don’t have a set TBR yet. I did plan to read IT this month. I just got the audiobook from the library. I do have some thrillers I want to read as well. I think I’ll mainly be sticking to graphic novels this month since IT is so chunky.
