The Outstanding Blogger Award

Hi guys!

How are you today. It is absolutely freezing in my house. I am writing this under a nice cozy blanket, with about 40 jumpers on, fluffy socks, slippers, a hot water bottle and a hot chocolate. Despite all that I still feel cold. Do you ever feel like that? When your chilled to the bone and you just cant warm up?
Anywho, today I have another award! I was very very kindly nominated by Rae @ Rae’s Read’s and Reviews. I love her blog and you should definitely check her out if you haven’t already. She recently had a cartoon version of herself made in the Disney style! It is so cute and I am so jealous haha!

The Rules:

  • Have the link to the creator’s original award post.
  • Answer the questions provided.
  • Create 7 unique questions.
  • Nominate 10 other bloggers. Neither the award’s creator nor the blogger that nominated you can be nominated.
  • At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award!

Questions I was Asked:

1. When is your favorite time to write?

It depends, if we’re talking about writing blog posts then I like to do that at around 11am, sometimes it is nearer 1pm but 11am is always the goal time for when I think I write my best posts.
If we’re talking about my personal writing (eg. poetry and prose) I prefer to write at like 9/10 pm and into the early hours of the morning. I don’t know what it is about this time but I just get into the right head space I guess.

2. Do you have a special reading space?

Definitely!! I can only read in my bed. I have tried to read in loads of places, but I just don’t have the same level of focus and interest in the books as I do if I am in my bed.

3. If you could be an animal, what would you be?

Probably a cat. They have it good. They nap and eat. They get affection but also their independent and like to be alone. I basically am a cat already haha.

4. Do you judge books by their covers?

One hundred percent. I know I shouldn’t but come on – a beautiful or intriguing cover just grabs your attention. And a poor cover or a something that looks like a child has made it just puts me off. I’m not saying indie authors have to fork out for a professional, you can make some stunning covers all on your own, but if you do do this you have to put in the effort. NO COMIC SANS!! EVER!!!

5. Have you ever finished a book in a day?

I have. I read a lot of novellas so I can get them done in a few hours. I definitely have read some longer books in a day too. The Flynn Series by Sophie McKenzie comes to mind where I read the three books in the series (that were out at the time) in the three days I was away. So that’s a book a day for three days in a row.

6. What book made you cry most recently?

I have a feeling this meant with sadness, but technically the last book I read The Scam List Dinan. It was so unbelievably funny that I had to stop because I had a stitch. I also cried with laughter on multiple occasions. It’s a 5 star read – totally recommend.
But if we are talking about sad crying then I think the last book that made me sob was To Be Your Last by Rae Kennedy. I remember being super sad and I think I cried but I don’t actually remember.

7. How did you get into reading?

I had a bit of an on-off relationship with reading my whole life. When I was like baby years, 1/2ish I loved reading. I did it with my parents all the time. Then I kind of got out of it during my primary school years. I got really into it when I was 11/12 again. And then I got out of it until I was about 15/16 and I have been addicted since. I think the key to getting into reading is falling in love with a genre. I learnt that YA Romances with a happy ending are just my bread and butter. So when I worked that out I knew the kinds of books to look for that made me enjoy reading and once I cracked that I didn’t stop reading. Obviously I branch out and try new genres now, but I know that if I’m in a rut because of it that if I go back to a romance it will fix it.

My Nominees:

My Questions for You:

  1. What is the first book that made you cry?
  2. Have you heard of ASMR? If so, do you like it or not and why?
  3. What motivates you to keep writing (whether that be for your blog or WIP’S)
  4. Do you prefer rainy or sunny days?
  5. Name three things that you like to collect
  6. Have you taken up any new hobbies in the past 6 months?
  7. If you could design your own candle and perfume scent what would you choose?

If I’ve nominated you I am sorry if you’ve already been nominated and I didn’t know. I hope these questions are different enough that you can answer them. I really enjoyed thinking up some different questions so I hope you like them and have such fun answering them as I did writing them. As always please pin-back to me so I can see all your incredible answers. I hope you all have an absolutely terrific day and I will see you all again for another post tomorrow ❤

Have you read any of the books I’ve mentioned?
How did you get into reading?
And what animal do you think you would be?

  1. Loved reading your answers! Cats are my favourite animals, so to be one would be cool. It is interesting how we have different times of the day when we write better. I think I write my best book reviews at around 6pm-7pm..

  2. I too like doing my ‘work’ writing during the morning and ‘creative’ sessions during the night. I don’t know why, but night time just feels appropriate for that kind of writing. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks! That seems to be a trend for most people I’ve spoken too. How odd that us writers have all synced up without us even knowing 😂

  3. Aww, thank you for the nomination! These are such great questions! 😊❤
And I’m glad you agree that beds are the optimal reading spot! Honestly, I do not understand people who prefer other places 😂

      1. I actually like reading outside, too 😂 But my bed will always remain my number one spot! (And let’s face it, when I read outside, I usually also do it on a picnic blanket or in our hammock, which gets pretty close to the bed ambience 😉)

  4. Thank you so much for the kind words Maisy 😀 I’m actually the same way when it comes to writing! I usually do my blog posts in the late morning or early afternoon but I find it easier to work on my manuscript late at night 🙂
