My Monthly Anticipations – August 2020

Hi guys,

How have you been doing? I was on a walk with my family yesterday in a forest and me being the very easily distracted person that I am, was too busy watching some people canoe, and I tripped over a root and fell flat on my face, going over my ankle and leaving me with a massive bump/bruise on my leg. SO learn from me and always watch where you’re going! Today’s Anticipations post might be a little shorter because there wasn’t that much I am excited for this month just like last time. Either way, I hope you enjoy ❤

Book Releases:

The Scam List by Kurt Dinan
Release Date:
3rd August
(I kindly got a copy of this on Netgalley and I’m excited to get to it)
Meet the best teen con artist team around.
Boone McReedy: high school conman, smooth-talking charmer, and the idiot who just got scammed out of $15,000 of his mom’s money.
Darby West: ass-kicker, straight-shooter, and Boone’s ex-girlfriend.
Now, they must team up to save their parents’ business, one con at a time.
That is if they don’t kill each other first.
Of course, they’re only going to scam people who deserve it.
That’s a promise. Would they lie to you?

Kiss my Cupcake by Helena Hunting
Release Date:
11th August
Blaire Calloway has planned every Instagram-worthy moment of her cupcake and cocktails shop launch down to the tiniest detail. What she didn’t plan on? Ronan Knight and his old-school sports bar next door opening on the very same day. He may be super swoony, but Blaire hasn’t spent years obsessing over buttercream and bourbon to have him ruin her chance at success. From axe throwing (his place) to frosting contests (hers), Blaire and Ronan are constantly trying to one-up each other in a battle to win new customers. But with every clash, there’s also an undeniable chemistry. When an even bigger threat to their business comes to town, they’re forced to call a temporary time-out on their own war and work together. And the more time Blaire spends getting to know the real Ronan, the more she wonders if it’s possible to have her cupcake and eat it too.

Loathe at First Sight by Suzanne Park
Release Date:
18th August
Melody Joo is thrilled to land her dream job as a video game producer, but her new position comes with its share of challenges. Namely, an insufferable CEO and a team that consists of mostly male co-workers who make the term “misogyny” pale in comparison to their obnoxious comments. Then there’s the infuriating—yet distractingly handsome—MBA intern Nolan MacKenzie, a.k.a. “the guy who got hired because his uncle is the boss”. Just when Melody thinks she’s made the worst career move of her life, her luck changes on a dime. While joking with a friend, she creates a mobile game that has male strippers fighting for survival in a post-apocalyptic world. Suddenly, Melody’s “joke” is her studio’s most high-profile project—and Melody’s running the show. When Nolan is appointed a key member of her team, Melody’s sure he’ll be useless. But as they grow closer, she sees he’s smart and sexy, which makes Melody want to forget he’s her intern. As their attraction deepens, she knows it’s time to pump the brakes even with her Korean parents breathing down her neck to hurry up and find a man. But she’s here to work—and nothing more. All she has to do is resist the wild thoughts coursing through her mind whenever Nolan is near. Easy . . . or so she thinks. With her pet project about to launch, Melody suddenly faces a slew of complications, including a social media trolling scandal that could end her career. She suspects one of her co-workers is behind the sabotage and is determined to find out who betrayed her. Could the man she’s falling hard for help her play the game to win—in work and love?

TV Show Releases:

  1. Knives Out
    Release Date: 3rd August
    On: Amazon Prime
I have already watched this because I love murder mysteries and it is so good. I did guess how it was done rather quickly and it made me feel so smart haha. I do watch a lot and I mean A LOT of murder mysteries so I don’t think it’s predictable, more that I just have got good at predicting.
  2. Lucifer Season 5
    Release Date: 21st August
    On: Netflix
This is a bitt-sweet release for me. On one hand I am super excited because I love Lucifer. I’ve loved Tom Ellis ever since I first saw him on Miranda (one of my all-time fave shows) On the other hand however I am super sad that this is the last ever season. I hope it’s great!
  3. Chemical Hearts
    Release Date: 21st August
    On: Amazon Prime
This is based on the novel Our Chemical Hearts and it has Lili Reinheart in it so I am excited to see if this is as good as I hope it will be

Personal Life:

I am getting the keys to my new flat this month and I am over the moon with excitement!!
I am also going caravanning with my family for a long weekend so that will be nice to get away and just do some family stuff.
I hope to start a new knitting project – I am wanting to knit a quilt or well knit squares and then sew them together to make a quilt/blanket for my new flat. Plus, when it’s only little squares that’s more manageable to think of doing rather than knitting a blanket you know.
I also can’t wait to keep writing one of my WIP’s because I am head over heels with my main character Faye. I put a snippet of my writing in this post if you are interested in seeing why I love her so much.

That’s all for this month. I plan to spend a lot of time finishing criminal minds and knitting. Anything you are excited for this month? Tell me below! Have a great day and see you tomorrow for my word of the week 🙂

  1. Congrats on moving! Good luck with everything that involves – and with knitting! I’ve never had the dedication to make a full-size blanket. I’m excited to start grad school this month!

    Happy August!
