How was your weekend? Mine was okay. I did finally get a new flat and I will be moving in next month so I am super excited for that. I also just bought myself a new desk in the British Heart Foundation shop for £25 which is such an amazing deal!
I did a post like this in April for Camp NaNoWriMo and I really liked it. This NaNoWriMo is a bit different for me because rather than using it like it is meant to be used (i.e. Pick one project and write x amount each day to finish said project), I just wanted to try and write daily – even if it is only 100 words. So far I have managed that. I started off a lot better with the last few days only being a little bit of writing. I flipped between 3 different current WIP’s. I liked this because it gave me options and it’s kept my brain constantly flowing with ideas.
If you want to be my NaNo friend – my link is here 🙂
Also I am a NaNo noob… and although I worked on this project in previous NaNo events I gave it it’s own project cause I’m dumb so ignore that!
Overall (So far, as we still have a few days to go) I have written: 22, 950 words
Here is the tracker I have been keeping in my bullet journal. It’s a very simple scheme but I’ve liked keeping track of my writing.
The Three Projects I worked on this month were –
Singing in the Spring. I talked about this in the April post. It’s a guilty pleasure write for me; based loosely on my high school life but really dramatised. It’s a YA Contemporary Romance. It is currently sitting at 60,000 words.
The next project I actually just started this month and is currently still untitled. It’s a NA Rockstar Romance. It follows a girl named Rose who was recently in a car accident that killed her brother and left her boyfriend in a coma. She moves back in with her friend and ends up meeting the new up and coming band – Limp Angel. I have some amazing plans for some real crazy stuff to go down and I’m excited. I’ve never written something like this in the more 18+ catagory but hopefully I do it justice. It is currently at 12000 words.
The last thing I was writing this month is another unnamed project that I am co-writing with my two best friends. It is another YA contemporary Romance that follows three girls who all fall for the new kid. I’m really loving writing with other people. The character I write is called Faye. She is a super competitive girl who is into music and art. She’s also very shy and quiet but has a mouth on her once she gets comfortable around someone. She is probably my favourite character I’ve ever written in my life. I have a feeling it is going to be a long one because we are barely even into it yet and it’s already 40,000 words – but I guess that’s what happens when you’re telling three people’s stories in one. Because I love Faye so much I am going to put in a tiny excerpt of one of my favourite moments of mine so far – Enjoy ❤
Phoebe sat in our usual seats, her bag on mine to stop anyone from snagging it before I got there. Phoebe and I have been friends since I moved here five years ago. She had been assigned to show me around and we just seemed to click. She was brutally honest to everyone and I loved that. It meant I could always trust her to tell me when I was being stupid. Appearance wise, we were polar opposites – her with her short shoulder length black hair that was naturally pin straight, with warm brown eyes that looked like caramel that was melting in the sun; and me with my long straggly ginger waves and grey eyes that just looked like I had my soul sucked out. It didn’t take a detective to guess the DUFF of our friendship. She beckoned me over and moved her bag from the seat.
“You took your time. I don’t know how much longer she’d believe that you were in the toilet without me telling her that you have explosive bowel issues.”
“Gee thanks. I bet that declaration would have made me the most popular girl in school,” I smiled, grabbing my eyeliner from my bag. I didn’t like to wear much makeup, but I never quite felt myself without my winged liner and mascara.
“Shut up, you know you would have done the same to me if the roles were reversed.”
“You can’t still be trying to get me back when I told everyone you were having issues inserting your blood plug” I laughed fondly, remembering how our History teachers’ face had turned bright red at my words.
“You know I still have people asking me about inserting butt plugs right because of your stupid mumbling that day. I shall never recover.” She brought her hand to her forehead in feigned distress. I just laughed at her as I put my mascara away.
I hope you enjoyed this! I hope to get a few thousand more words done in the next few days. Have you been doing NaNoWriMo this month? If you have I want to hear how your writing has been going! Have a great day and I will see you again tomorrow!
