My Monthly Anticipations – July 2020

Hi guys,

How has your week been so far? Mine started off great but I’ve been feeling a little off the past few days. Maybe I’m catching a cold or something. Today’s Anticipations post might be a little shorter because there wasn’t that much I am excited for this month compared to last. Either way, I hope you enjoy ❤

Book Releases:

One to Watch by Kate Stayman-London – July 7th
Real love…as seen on TV.
Bea Schumacher is a devastatingly stylish plus-size fashion blogger who has amazing friends, a devoted family, legions of Insta followers–and a massively broken heart. Like the rest of America, Bea indulges in her weekly obsession: the hit reality show Main Squeeze. The fantasy dates! The kiss-off rejections! The surprising amount of guys named Chad! But Bea is sick and tired of the lack of body diversity on the show. Since when is being a size zero a prerequisite for getting engaged on television?
Just when Bea has sworn off dating altogether, she gets an intriguing call: Main Squeeze wants her to be its next star, surrounded by men vying for her affections. Bea agrees, on one condition–under no circumstances will she actually fall in love. She’s in this to supercharge her career, subvert harmful anti-fat beauty standards, inspire women across America, and get a free hot air balloon ride. That’s it.
But when the cameras start rolling, Bea realizes things are more complicated than she anticipated. She’s in a whirlwind of sumptuous couture, Internet culture wars, sexy suitors, and an opportunity (or two, or five) to find messy, real-life love in the midst of a made-for-TV fairy tale. In this joyful, razor-sharp debut, Bea has to decide whether it might just be worth trusting these men–and herself–for a chance to live happily ever after.

Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall – July 7th
One (fake) boyfriend
Practically perfect in every way
Luc O’Donnell is tangentially–and reluctantly–famous. His rock star parents split when he was young, and the father he’s never met spent the next twenty years cruising in and out of rehab. Now that his dad’s making a comeback, Luc’s back in the public eye, and one compromising photo is enough to ruin everything.
To clean up his image, Luc has to find a nice, normal relationship…and Oliver Blackwood is as nice and normal as they come. He’s a barrister, an ethical vegetarian, and he’s never inspired a moment of scandal in his life. In other words: perfect boyfriend material. Unfortunately apart from being gay, single, and really, really in need of a date for a big event, Luc and Oliver have nothing in common. So they strike a deal to be publicity-friendly (fake) boyfriends until the dust has settled. Then they can go their separate ways and pretend it never happened.
But the thing about fake-dating is that it can feel a lot like real-dating. And that’s when you get used to someone. Start falling for them. Don’t ever want to let them go.

TV Show Releases:

  1. Warrior Nun – This is a netflix release that I believe came out on the first of July but I am not sure. I started it yesterday and like it. The premise is very my kind of thing but it’s very slow building and a little repetitive. It’s a 10 part series so It definitely could have been brought down to 6 or 7 as there is a lot of waiting and pointless running around.
  2. Cursed – This is due to come out on the 17th of July on Netflix. It looks to be an Arthur and the Round Table/Merlin/Camelot adaptation and I will never turn down anything like that. I love historical drama! Add magic, what more could you ask for.
  3. The Umbrella Academy – The Seconds Season of the Umbrella Academy is due to come out on Netflix on the 31st of the month. I have loved Robert Sheehan since I first saw him in the sadly short-lived British sitcom Me and Mrs Jones in 2012 and have watched him in tons of other stuff since then. Plus, the first season was great…even if it was mildly predictable.

Movie Releases:

  1. I am super duper excited for Hamilton to come to Disney Plus. It’s happening today! So I will definitely be watching it tonight. I am such a musical nerd and this is a dream for me to get to see Hamilton, even if it is only on my laptop screen.

Personal Life:

I am super excited to knit this month. I got a pattern for knitting a snood for my birthday and I have already started it. It’s meant to be simple but for someone who is starting out I’m finding it a little tough.
Pubs and Beer Gardens are opening up again this month in Scotland so I am excited for the fact that things seem to be lifting. The travel ban is also going to be phased out.
I was super excited to get super-fast fibre internet put into my house yesterday! I live in the middle of the countryside so this is a BIG step for us! I cannot wait to watch youtube without it buffering haha.
It is also Camp NaNoWriMo this month and as always I am going to take a stab at participating. I don’t exactly have a word goal but more like try to write every day even if it’s only 100 words.

That’s all for this month. I plan to spend a lot of time watching new tv and knitting. Anything you are excited for this month? Tell me below! Have a great day and see you tomorrow 🙂
