Hi guys!
How was your weekend? I didn’t do much, mainly watched NCIS and worked on my new WIP. Today’s post is another one that’s a little different for my blog but I have been seeing them around the blogosphere a lot and I’ve been loving reading them so I wanted to do one for myself. It probably won’t be too long because I am not much of a morning person, but with the chaos of Lockdown I have been trying to feel more productive by getting up and doing stuff. I hope you enjoy mine as much as I enjoy everyone else’s. Let’s get into it.
Firstly, I wake up. And now this varies day to day. I’d love to say I was up at the crack of dawn but I most definitely am not. It can be anywhere between 8 and 10 am. And it’s not important to me because I don’t have work to go to or anything like that and I’m not leaving the house so my starting time doesn’t matter. I’d rather wake up late and have my 8 hours than wake up early and be grumpy all day.
Like I said, I am not much of a morning person, so when I do wake up whatever time that may be at I always spend at least 30 minutes watching Youtube, catching up on messages I’ve gotten overnight, scrolling through Twitter and Instagram etc. It’s just a nice and gentle way to start a day.

When I finally get the courage to get out from under my duvet I get dressed and then do my skincare. I am a nightime showerer cause I cannot deal with freezing water in the morning. I have a whole post on my skincare routine. (both morning and night)
Next thing in my routine is very new for lockdown, a workout app. Now it’s nothing intense cause I’ve just got dressed and done my skincare and I prefer my proper workouts to be later in the day. But I’ve been doing some stretches and light strength workouts first thing. It takes like 10 minutes and I’ve really noticed a difference in it giving me an energy boost. When I first started out I followed the app exactly, now I know the ones that work for me since I’ve been doing this routine for about 2 months now, and I just do those.

Breakfast is next, today was a raisin bagel and some water. But sometimes I have porridge with a banana. Other times I have sausages, sometimes I have healthy bacon (one without nitrates…so only a little healthy) or sometimes I just have toast. I really have whatever’s on hand that morning. Once I’ve made that, I come back to my room and eat it whilst I work on my bullet journals and wait on my computer loading up. I’ll put on some tunes and fill out my to-do-list in my journal, tick off my trackers and things like that. Then I put my dishes in the kitchen once I’m done, I brush my teeth now too and then usually I grab a drink before heading back to my room. At some point during my various trips I see my family and have a wee chat.
The last thing I do in the morning is usually write my blog post for the day. Sometimes this gets pushed back a bit if I get sidetracked or if something comes up but I much prefer getting them done early so I don’t stress about keeping to my schedule.
But that’s all for my morning routine. Obviously, this relies heavily on the fact that I have nothing to do because of Quarantine. Does it differ a lot from yours? Have you found that having a solid routine to stick to is helping with isolation? I certainly have. I hope you enjoyed, see you tomorrow 🙂

I take my time each morning with a nice cappuccino. Yes, I have time to make my own instead of going out to Starbucks. They taste so much better. ❤️👍

I’m not a coffee drinker but I always have the opinion that homemade is best – it works that way with cooking so I addume coffee is the same too ❤

My morning routine has also changed because of the extra time at home I have. It used to be a rush to get ready before work, but now I find myself taking things much more slowly and setting aside extra time for writing each morning.

I have work, so I’m generally up by 6am – 7 am for the latest. I’ll message my boyfriend first and then get organized for the day. I must have a cup of tea before I eat otherwise my entire day feels off. I’ll check IG and fb for notifications, updates and then I start work at 8 till about 4. Then I just relax in the evening, reading blogs, binging on series etc. But we finally got the go ahead to exercise outdoors so this evening I have some plans to do that.

That sounds like a great routine! Do you find it’s helping keep normality?

For the most part it has. But there are days where I mentally cannot function and the routine goes away. I think flexibility overall is needed and will help.

I watch a lot of stuff. Some things that I think are similar to NCIS (in they way that they’re murder dramas) that I like are Castle, Haven, Lucifer, death in paradise, miss fisher’s murder mysteries and some more. I love so many it’s tough to narrow down favoruites
