I am officially back on working internet and therefore am much less grouchy than yesterday. I also took my fake nails off in case the same situation arose, so it’s far easier to type today.
For once, I was actually tagged to do this post! I know right, CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. So a massive thank you to Siobhan for including me.
She found the tag on Kristin Kraves Books. And being the hermit that I am I hadn’t read her blog until the other day…and I agree that I was definitely missing out without this in my life.
But without further ado, let’s get right on with the tag.
1. Anticipation | The Christmas excitement is real. What book release are you most anticipating?
By far Pink Lock Picks and Sequined Witch Hats by Carla Rehse, the first of which I read this time last year. I can find no mention of a release date for the second but all I can say is please be quick cause I am not-so-patiently-waiting!
2. Christmas Songs and Carols | What book or author can you not help but sing its praises?
I would definitely say, Sophie McKenzie, because she is the author I have read the most from and I have a plethora more that I cannot wait to dive into in the coming year. I have read her since I was young and I have never outgrown her. I don’t know whether that says more about her writing or about me XD.
3. Gingerbread Houses | What book or series has wonderful world building?
This is tough for me because anyone who avidly reads my blog and knows the types of book I gravitate towards knows that I like reality and relatability ALOT. So the furthest I really delve from reality is Urban Fantasy or Sci-Fi. Both normally set on earth…doesn’t require much world building.
But… What eventually came to mind after a bit of thinking was The Dresden Files Series by Jim Butcher. Because my Advanced Higher dissertation topic was:
The Dresden Files: Urban Fantasy that doesn’t take itself too seriously. An exploration of Jim Butcher’s blend of characterisation, use of setting and humour/wit in creating believable Urban Fantasy.
Hence, it makes sense for me to say this was the best fantastical yet plausible world-building series for me.
P.s if you want me to post my dissertation on here as a sort of long-winded and odd review, I will.
4. A Christmas Carol | Favorite classic or one that you want to read
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin. I read both The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Murial Spark and A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle this year and loved them so it’s inspired me to take on more classics. Plus, I just rewatched the Colin Firth TV version and it has me in the mood for some Mr Darcy.
5.Christmas Sweets | What book would you love to receive for Christmas
As I mentioned briefly yesterday, Eve of Man by Giovanna and Tom Fletcher.
6. Candles in the Window | What book gives you that warm fuzzy feeling?
Falling Fast by Sophie McKenzie. It always will I think as it’s just such a cute and timeless romance with a good bit of drama thrown in for tension. It also holds a special place in my heart as it was probably one of the first books that got me into reading.
7. Christmas Trees and Decorations | What are some of your favourite book covers?
Isn’t this one of the most gorgeous things you’ve ever seen? It’s got it all.
- Easy to Read Wording
- Publicist Clearly Displayed
- Cute Romance to get my Attention
- Shadow figures to keep it generic as so I can form my own opinions.
- Gorgeous starry background to draw Attention but not too bright as to distract from the rest.
Need I say more?
8. Christmas Joy | What are some of your favourite things about Christmas and/or some of your favourite Christmas memories?
Either like I’ve said in past tags, my dad recording my brother and I opening our presents together or not that I remember it, but I have been told that one year when I was two or three I woke up and forgot it was Christmas so just went about my day playing with my barbies on the floor of my room until my parents asked me what day it was and I didn’t answer only sprinted to the other side of the house to get my presents and make up for lost time.
So, that’s another tag done. Another day closer to Ol’ Saint Nick coming. Thanks again to Siobhan for tagging me. And I tag all of you because it’s Christmas. See you again tomorrow for another Christmassy post on CHRISTMAS EVE!!!
