Top 5 Book Covers I Own

Copy of Top character I love in a book I hate

Hi…

I can only apologise for my absence, it’s exam season and I really need the grades so the majority of the things I enjoy have fallen by the wayside. I can’t believe I have basically gone two months without posting when March (which feels like yesterday by the way) was so productive and good with my posting! I am going to try to get back to a schedule but stress etc may take over again.
But anyway, I am having a moment of no motivation and therefore I thought I would do a quick post – a top 5 because they are some of my favourite posts to write. I had this scheduled in my planner for 5th of April so that shows how far behind I am. Many of these I bought over my easter holidays so maybe I love their covers or maybe I’m just excited about new books. I got all the descriptions from Goodreads as per usual. I know you’re not meant to judge a book by its cover but seriously, you totally do! Don’t lie! At least I do anyway.
I am finding as I write this that because I haven’t done this in ages 1. I haven’t forgotten how ergo Blogging is like riding a bike and 2. I am rambling a great deal because my urge to write has built up over the past weeks and has accumulated into a highly concentrated surge of nonsensical ramblings. SO I AM GOING TO STOP NOW…before I go off on another tangent.

1. Ink (The Skin Books #1) by Alice Broadway:

Every action, every deed, every significant moment is tattooed on your skin forever. When Leora’s father dies, she is determined to see her father remembered forever. She

knows he deserves to have all his tattoos removed and made into a Skin Book to stand as a record of his good life. But when she discovers that his ink has been edited and his book is incomplete, she wonders whether she ever knew him at all.

Sorry for this terrible photo, you can bearly see the title and you can see my reflection in this photo, the book has a lovely metallic finish that makes it hard to photograph for a newbie like myself. I love this cover for the obvious reason of it is beautifully intricate and appeals to my artier side. This is the first time I have read the blurb because if you find/ own this book you will see there is no blurb on the back, so for me, I definitely judged this one by the cover.
2. Untold (The Lynburn Legacy #2) by Sarh Rees Brennan:

If you’ve not read the first one, I don’t know how you will feel about reading this blurb so I will put my opinions on the cover here if you are interested in skipping past it. I love this cover because I love forests (writing, reading, walking, drawing – literally anything to do with them!) and the cool tones stand out against the red and orange covers of the other books in the series which I feel represents this book really well.

It’s time to choose sides…
On the surface, Sorry-in-the-Vale is a sleepy English town. But Kami Glass knows the truth. Sorry-in-the-Vale is full of magic. In the old days, the Lynburn family ruled with fear, terrifying the people into submission in order to kill for blood and power. Now the Lynburns are back, and Rob Lynburn is gathering sorcerers so that the town can return to the old ways.
But Rob and his followers aren’t the only sorcerers in town. A decision must be made: pay the blood sacrifice, or fight. For Kami, this means more than just choosing between good and evil. With her link to Jared Lynburn severed, she’s now free to love anyone she chooses. But who should that be?
A darkly humorous take on Gothic romance, Sarah Rees Brennan’s Lynburn Legacy weaves together the tale of a heroine desperate to protect those she loves, two boys hoping to be saved, and the magical forces that will shape their destiny.
3. The Boy Who Sneaks In My Bedroom Window by Kirsty Moseley:

Liam James, boy next door and total douchebag, is my brother’s best friend. I can’t stand him. Well, that’s not strictly true, at night I see a side of him that no one else does. Every night Liam becomes my safe haven, my protector, the one to chase the demons of my

abusive childhood away and hold all the broken pieces of me together.
He’s cocky, he’s arrogant, and he’s also some sort of playboy in training. With his ‘hit it and quit it’ mentality, he’s the last person you’d want to fall in love with. I only wish someone had told my heart that…

Again, I love this cover because I love rain (good thing I am Scottish because we get a lot of it) as it reminds me of happy times hiding inside reading, and I just love it and the heart just makes it so cute and makes me think of drawing on car windows – all good memories.
4. Dare to Fall by Estelle Maskame:

Death. She was afraid of it. He was used to it.
img_20180510_123823-1.jpgThere’s not much that MacKenzie Rivers is afraid of. In the small town of Windsor, Colorado, she is known for her easygoing, strong personality, some would even say she isn’t afraid of anything. But MacKenzie knows that’s not true. She’s afraid of losing those closest to her. Recovering from a family tragedy, Kenzie is fully aware of just how big an impact death can have on those it leaves behind. Seeing its effects on other people is something she just can’t quite handle. From now on, Kenzie is her own priority.
There are not many things that Jaden Hunter can make sense of. He doesn’t understand why it was his parents who lost their lives last year. He doesn’t understand why his friends don’t crack jokes around him anymore. He doesn’t understand why his teachers still insist on letting him skip assignments. He doesn’t understand why MacKenzie, the girl he was falling for last year, has suddenly distanced herself from him.
Too afraid to get wrapped up in Jaden’s world as he deals with the tragic death of his parents, Kenzie has stayed away from him as best she can, until one night when they unexpectedly come face-to-face for the first time in months. As old feelings resurface and new memories are made, both MacKenzie and Jaden show each other how to appreciate the little things in life, the moments that are taken for granted. But will MacKenzie dare to fall for the one person she’s so afraid of growing close to?

Wow…thats a hefty blurb. Anyway, I am a sucker for the art style of this cover, the mountains especially and the pretty colours. It’s just all round very eye-catching and pretty,
5. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord:

It’s been a year since it happened—when Paige Hancock’s first boyfriend died in an

accident. After shutting out the world for two years, Paige is finally ready for a second chance at high school . . . and she has a plan. First: Get her old crush, Ryan Chase, to date her—the perfect way to convince everyone she’s back to normal. Next: Join a club—simple, it’s high school after all. But when Ryan’s sweet, nerdy cousin, Max, moves to town and recruits Paige for the Quiz Bowl team (of all things!) her perfect plan is thrown for a serious loop. Will Paige be able to face her fears and finally open herself up to the life she was meant to live?

I love this cover because it’s relatively modern and minimalistic, and I love pink if you couldn’t tell that from the colour scheme of my blog.

Those were my favourite covers of the moment as they will probably have changed by next week. It’s been good to get back into this and I hope I can keep it up but I have a feeling it might drop out again until my exams are over. Also, on another note, I was curious what your opinion is on Bookstagram pages because I was considering making one because I love the design factor of it or if you’d rather me just do a similar thing but post it on here? I wanted your opinion since it would be you guys looking at it – so just tell me what your thoughts are and have a good week.

Thanks and Happy Reading,

    1. I feel the same way, when I bought it the only blurb I got was “The truth will get under your skin” and I thought that was worth the risk because it was so pretty XD

    1. Hi,
It’s sitting on my bedside table at the top of the pile, thanks for understanding – I go away on holiday soon (super excited) and that will be one I take!

      Thanks again, Maisy.
