Hi,
Happy Monday! I hope you are feeling refreshed and excited for the definitely probably boring week that presents itself. I thought I would kick the week off with a review of a book I read a couple of weeks ago. I went in with extremely low expectations and was completely blown away. Enough said, on with the reviewing.
Title: One Night With Hemsworth (One Night With #1)
Author: Eden Finley
Genre: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance/Erotica
Published: February 2016
Pages: 274
Plot Summary: Cole Turner’s ex-wife is getting remarried. No amount of alcohol can drown that out, but taking home the hot brunette at the bar is a good enough distraction. That’s all Paige is meant to be—a distraction.
Paige Minor is too busy studying for her law degree and getting over a bad breakup to care about finding another boyfriend. All she wants is one night of careless fun with a complete stranger. Cole seems like the perfect candidate.
When Cole goes to pick up his son from his ex’s perfect house, with her perfect fiancé, and perfect new life, the last person he expects to see is Paige. She definitely shouldn’t be the one opening the door.
As this is a spoiler free review I had to cut off the end of the blurb as it definitely gives away a big plot spoiler – I was lucky that because I had such low expectations I read the first line of the blurb and was like this will do so I missed the final line that gives it away. I think this resulted in me being more drawn in because I was intrigued to see the connection. (I had low expectations because I was grumpy at having been in a reading slump for so long FYI and in the end this is what got me out of it! IRONY KIDS) I loved the plot in general, it was very well spaced, didn’t feel rushed or forced at any points and the ending was brilliant -just perfect! The whole family dynamic was very interesting and the blurb (now I have read it all) is a pretty great description of it.
Writing Style: This is the first book of Eden Finley’s I have read but sign me up for anything else she has to offer but this was incredibly well written. Very accurate to the characters ages, personas and location – none of the words seemed overused or unnatural. The humour/wit/banter between the characters (one of the key elements that sells a book for me) was incredible! And Eden as a person just seems adorable:
Characters/Relationships: I loved all the interactions between Cole and Paige. They were all heart-melting or breaking and it was a complete roller coaster that I never wanted to end! I loved the compatibility between them and how it didn’t seem forced even though there were serious insta-love…well more insta-feelings? if that’s a thing? I didn’t mind it – maybe her humour blind sighted my good judgement but I don’t care because I loved them!
Hating Col’s Ex was pure joy for me – I was almost excited for her to do something bad again so my hatred for her was fuelled. Has any characters ever made you feel that way?
Hunter…there are no words. I don’t quiet know why I fell in love (Other than my obsession with secondary characters but…) He was kind and considerate and hot and smart and just so sweet and yet a bit of a douche…big thumbs up from me 😀 I LOVE HUNTER!! The second book in this series One Night With Calvin is about Hunter and Sara (Paige’s best friend) and I really want to read that!!! Once exam stress clears a bit.
End of review guys 😦 I love this book so much. 5/5 stars easy. If you like quick wit and complicated families this one is for you! I hope you’ve had a good Monday – may the rest of the week follow the same trend if so 🙂
Thanks and Happy Reading,
Maisy.
I was looking back through all your posts and I found this and just let me say, LOVELY REVIEW. SO WELL SPOKEN. However I will not be reading this book because I have about 753684793 to read still as you know.
