Meaning: Old Scots word for the owner of a brothel.
Example: The elderly bawd seizes his sleeve.
How I heard it: I am studying Liz Lochhead poetry in school and she has one aptly named Bawd. I recommend it. I am really enjoying her work.
This is going to be my new format for Wednesday’s Word of the Week. Rather than smooshing them into the end of another post they get a miniature one all of their own on top of the post of the day.
And yes, I do know today is a Friday but the idea came to me last night and I just had to do it before I forgot. I just used the most recent word as a trial run. Hope you like it.
