This post was requested by Dynamo, thanks for the suggestion. I really enjoyed doing the last one like this so I am glad you did too. I loved this book when I read it last September (I can’t believe it was over a year ago now) and gave it 4/5 stars. If you haven’t heard of Kody Keplinger’s Shut Out, I highly recommend you read it if you like a good contemporary romance with maybe just a little insta-love but definitely some insta-hate too.
Summary: Most high school sports teams have rivalries with other schools. At Hamilton High, it’s a civil war: the football team versus the soccer team. And for her part, Lissa is sick of it. Her quarterback boyfriend, Randy, is always ditching her to go pick a fight with the soccer team or to prank their locker room. And on three separate occasions Randy’s car has been egged while he and Lissa were inside, making out. She is done competing with a bunch of sweaty boys for her own boyfriend’s attention.
Lissa decides to end the rivalry once and for all: She and the other players’ girlfriends go on a hookup strike. The boys won’t get any action from them until the football and soccer teams make peace. What they don’t count on is a new sort of rivalry: an impossible girls-against-boys showdown that hinges on who will cave to their libidos first. And Lissa never sees her own sexual tension with the leader of the boys, Cash Sterling, coming.
Production: I would make this into a movie. I think this fits a movie better than a TV show as a standalone it isn’t long enough for that and I feel it could be detailed enough as a film. I would have Jason Moore and Ari Sandel co-direct as J.M. did an incredible job on Pitch Perfect and I think this definitely has similar threads of humour and such and A.S. directed The Duff (another of Kody Keplingers novels) onto the screen.
Lissa – Crystal Reed
Cash – Alex Pettyfer
Randy – Steven R. McQueen
Chloe – Claire Holt
Ellen – Aimee Garcia
Jenna – Vanessa Marano
Logan – Bobby Lockwood
Mr Daniels – Ian Whyte
That’s all for today. I hope you liked this; I hope to have a review of this up soon as I am planning on re-reading it. I am enraptured by these Dream Adaptation posts; watching them on YouTube is becoming an obsession so I do hope you like them because I have a feeling you are going to be stuck with them for a while. I wish you all the best of weeks and Halloweens.
Thanks and Happy Reading,
